As a lifelong resident of Bergen County, I understand the unique character of our community and feel privileged to be able to make a meaningful and lasting positive impact in people’s lives.

Dr. Ranita Fooks is a licensed clinical and certified school psychologist and the founder of The Healthy Mind.  She holds a doctorate from Hofstra University in Clinical and School Psychology.  Prior to starting this practice, Dr. Fooks has worked in varied settings providing psychological services including evaluation, treatment, cognitive rehabilitation, and pain management to injured workers through the New York State Worker's Compensation Program. She has also worked within the public school setting as a school psychologist.  She specializes in providing cognitive behavioral therapy for a range of social emotional challenges. 

Dr. Fooks has extensive experience providing cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders, depression, chronic pain management, trauma, suicidal ideation, anger issues, sleep adjustment disorders, psychosocial problems, relationship issues, caregiver distress, difficulty coping with a disability, injury and chronic pain, and traumatic brain injuries.  She has administered intake interviews and psychological measures, conducted crisis evaluations and participated in court depositions.  

She also has experience conducting and interpreting full psychoeducational evaluations, providing staff consultation, implementing functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans, developing Individualized Educational Plans, and leading Educational Planning Conferences. 

Dr. Fooks has received specialized training through her clinical work at Hofstra University.  She has experience working in an outpatient child and adolescent clinic providing behavioral parent training, a college counseling center, and an Anger Management institute.  

Dr. Fooks grew up in Bergen County and now resides here with her husband, two daughters and two dogs.
